3KG〈スリーケイジー〉は、北海道札幌市を拠点に活動するデザイン会社です。私たちは見た目の華やかさや美しさはもちろんですが、その土台となる、社会性や持続可能性について考えるのが大好き。共感し合えるパートナーと共に、未来が少しでも楽しく、美しく、まっとうになることを目指してデザインを続けています。

3KGは、2001年にフリーランスのグラフィックデザイナーが集まりスタートしました。2004年に会社を設立。2007年にはロングライフな家具や日用品を販売するD&DEPARTMENT PROJECTのフランチャイズ1号店をオープン。2017年からは庭ビルという3階建のビルを運営し、毎月「庭しんぶん」を発行しています。

庭ビルには気の置けない仲間たちが集まり、家具、雑貨、洋服、レコード、絵本、おもちゃなどを販売しています。気がつくと老若男女の日常が交わる賑やかな場所になっていました。シェアキッチンでは、採れたての野菜を使って料理人たちがパンやスープ、カレー、ピザなどを振る舞い、ギャラリーでは展覧会や映画の上映会のほか、こどもたちの英会話教室が行われています。私たちはそんなビルの3階で、日々デザインしています。

We are 3KG, a design company based in Sapporo, Japan. We started out as a graphic design studio in 2001 soon expanding to a store offering crafted long life furniture and household goods in 2007. We have managed our space, the Niiiwa building, a three-story multipurpose creative space since 2017.

In this creative environment we gather with friends to share our passion for furniture, variety goods, clothes, records, picture books and toys. Our shared Kitchen serves a variety of delicious dishes such as bread, soup, curry, pizza using vegetables harvested from their own gardens. In our gallery, exhibitions and movie events are held and we can hear the chatting of children's voices with their Australian teacher in English on Monday evenings. Our space has truly become a lively place for people of all ages to gather and share their experiences in their daily lives and is the essence of Niiiwa, a place to gather and grow. While our design office of 3KG is located on the top floor, it is philosophically a part of our garden, our Niiiwa below.

企業や個人が社会へ向けてメッセージを伝えるお手伝いをするのが3KGの仕事。主に企画・編集・デザインの力を使います。プロジェクトの規模は大小様々です。人・社会・地球に優しいプロジェクトに携わりたいと考えています。手掛けるプロジェクトは、依頼を受けたものもあれば、、自主的なものもあり、編集やデザインから、販売や場づくりまで、私たちの仕事は掴みどころがありませんが、私たちにとっては全て一続きの営みです。

2017年から毎月発行を続けている「庭しんぶん」は、こどもたちとの日々の暮らしの中で生じる問いや課題、私たちが目指す未来をまとめた新聞です。こどもの好奇心を刺激し、こどもと大人が一緒に考えるきっかけになることを願って、日本各地へお届けしています。

3KGという名前は、新生児の平均体重に由来しています。日本で産まれる新生児の平均体重はおよそ3000g = 3kg。見るもの、聞くもの、触れるもの、全てが新しい好奇心のかたまりといえる赤ちゃんの好奇心を忘れずに、これからも世界を眺め、デザインを続けます。

We want to make choices that are friendly, socially aware, globally conscious, and be involved in projects that will lead us together into the future. For us, there are no boundaries between our client work and independent projects, our activities such as editing, design, sales, and creating places.

Since 2017, we have been designing and editing our monthly publication, Niiiwa press, featuring questions and problems we all face in our daily lives, with a special focus on children and the future we want. Niiiwa press is a nationwide publication and we hope that it will create opportunities for children and adults to think together while stimulating children's curiosity.

Our name "3KG" comes the average newborn baby weight in Japan and we want to continue to look at the world as newborns, from a perspective delighting in curiosity in everything we hear, see and touch.

庭しんぶん Niiiwa Press

3KGが札幌第一こどものとも社と共同で編集部をつくり、2017年から創刊している庭しんぶん。全国各地に散らばる新聞配達員や、あしながおじさんたちに支えられながら発行を続けています。

Niiwa press is our monthly publication, written by an editorial department we formed with Sapporo Daiichi Kodomo no Tomo Co and designed by 3KG. We continue publishing with the helpful support of the press distributors “Daddy-Long-Legs'' all over Japan.
